We don't exist for ourselves. In our daily living, we encounter different people. Some are good to us. Some treat us badly. Whether we like it or not, we will deal with the different temperaments of people around us. How do we cope?
My past experiences with people at the office, at home, and in my social circle have led me to make adjustments in my approach towards situations. I did not compromise my values and belief, but I learned to be open-minded and face the person with a humble and understanding heart. This is because we never know whom God will use to influence our lives eventually.
Take my office experience. There was this guy who held a slightly higher position because he had a staff. I did not have any at that time. He would taunt me from time to time at the pantry area or in front of colleagues about my looks and other trivial stuff. However, later on, when his staff screwed him, I was there beside him to listen to what happened to him. He miraculously opened up and shared that he was prepared to just turn over to me his staff so I can manage them. Instantly, I was supervising a staff of more than 10 people.
Acting proud or moving your weight around like you're the only special person is easy to do. I can do it. But being humble and dealing well with different kinds of people is the challenging thing to do. God has admonished us to be humble and deal well with others. Like the sand that I picked up in La Union, Poro Point one time, life is filled with different grains. One can't pick up a grain with one hand.
Hebrews 10:24
Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds.
