I'm Cherry Grant, a fitness aficionado from Darwin, Australia where I'm currently working as an Early Childhood Educator and School Coordinator. I have a busy life raising 5 children, studying, and working full-time. Life is challenging all the time. It is quite demanding that sometimes I forget to chill and relax.
I had a big revelation way back in 2012 when I visited my doctor one too many times for being stressed out and sick. You see, I work with children and just a hint of cold can trigger my own sickness. I also realized that I gained so much weight. My body felt very heavy all the time.
To my embarrassment one day, my youngest daughter asked me if was pregnant. She thought I was because of my big belly! I'm just 5 feet tall and weighed 56 kilos at that time. Another worry of mine was my heart condition which involves experiencing high blood pressure, rheumatism etc.
So what did I do?
I started running! I joined all the 4k and 5k runs. I also enrolled myself to a class that teaches high intensity workouts, plus I joined Michelle Bridges 12 week challenge. After 10 months I started to weigh 46 kilos and I could do burpees, wall sits, sit up and all the exercise that I thought was not possible before!
I can't deny that it was a painful endeavor. It did take so much effort and time for my body and mind to get use to the fitness routine and schedules, but like everyone is saying, "No pain, no gain." We need to get out of our comfort zone. We need to nourish our body with good food and good thoughts. Let's all believe that we can change our lifestyle. Most of all, let's respect ourselves with how we treat our daily well-being.
