In a world where there's so much to do and a lot of places to see, time is significant. Most of the time, pun intended, it's something we seem to not have enough of. As a result of not having enough of it, we regard it as a distant friend. And whenever we find trouble, it's one of the things that gets the blame. It becomes our enemy. No longer a good friend, not even a distant one, time suddenly is working against us. Or so we think...
In our panic for attention, entitlement, and other life issues, we often abuse pushing what I call the fire alarm button of time. Many times, we overlook the importance of simply being still and not being a busy body. Even the act of praying to a higher being gets written off the shortlist of things to do. In our panic mode, we end up alarming loved ones and strangers around us for something that really do not matter. Our prayers, we think, are not working. They're like bread for bullets.
I was supposed to be in another country in South America as my former employer was quite eager for me to make it there for long-term work. Unfortunately even with all the right requirements submitted, I was not granted a visa.
In my experience, a fire alarm button of time does not need to be pushed over and over again. It takes one successful attempt and a leap of faith in God that the next minutes (even seconds) will change for the good of my situation. In the past when subsequent events did not turn out in my favor, I did not lose hope. I might have struggled a bit to try and push the fire alarm button again but such impatience only would make me worry more, so I applied restraint. I kept still.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1
There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens...
